Dr. Zhao Zhenzhou's research interests include social development in education, civic and moral education, and ethnic and women’s studies. She received a bachelor’s degree from the Beijing Normal University and a Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong. Her Ph.D. dissertation is on ethnic minority education in the PRC, entitled “‘Am I privileged?’: Ethnic Mongol students and cultural recognition in Chinese universities.” To date she has published 18 journal papers and book chapters. These include contributions to Asian Ethnicity (2008), Chinese Education and Society (2007); Blue Book of Chinese Education 2007(2008), Schooling Around the World: East Asia (2007), Critical Perspectives on Moral and Citizenship Education: Issues and Challenges in Asia (2007). She worked with Beijing Municipal Education Commission independently on two projects, and with the Ford Foundation on several projects on promoting ethnic and gender equality in China. She is an advisor for the Project Gardner (Yuanding Jihua), Institute for Integrated Rural Development (Wotu fazhan she), Hong Kong; and the facilitator of the Asia Pacific Network for Moral Education (APNME) (2007-2008). Before joining HKIED, she worked as Assistant Professor at Beijing Normal University.
